Even though we have been on a blog hiatis, we are still alive and kicking. Most of you should already know that our fifth child, Emerson James, has arrived, but if this is news to you then well, the cat is out of the bag. Emerson was born on Sunday, January 11th, 2009 at 3:39pm weighing 6 lb 5 oz and was 20" long. Heather was at 38 weeks exactly on the 11th, and she was induced begining around 7:00am at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY (which is where all five children have been born). Emma (E1) and Ethan (E3) both had what is called Shoulder Dystocia, which is when the shoulders get stuck after the head is out and if the situation is bad enough then it is necessary for the doctor to dislocate one of the shoulders to get the baby all the way out. Needless to say, being induced to ensure a smaller baby helps a great deal with the Shoulder Dystocia. Everyone in the family is adjusting very well and we praise our Great God above for keeping the family healthy (and no NICU stay this time!)
Emerson's picture album can be found through the link below. We will try and let you know when more pics are uploaded to it. Also, there will be a more detailed post coming soon for those who which to read more detail about how the whole event played out. For now, enjoy the photos and hopefully we can get back on track with our blogging!
